Tony Rae

Tony Rae is the current Principal and Head of Finance at NZ Funds. Tony has over 15 years of experience in finance and administration, with a focus on strategy formulation and implementation, process improvement, and team leadership.

Tony began their career in finance as a Contract Senior Financial & Project Accountant at Pioneer Investments in 2001. Tony then moved to KVB Kunlun as a Contract Financial Controller in 2002 before joining Nationwide Finance as their Financial Controller in 2003.

As the Financial Controller and second in charge to the General Manager at Nationwide, Tony was responsible for all Finance and Administration functions; leading eight team members. Tony's responsibilities included the general running of the company; formulating and communicating group strategies for multiple business units; implementing new process improvements; incorporating the implementation of the LeaseBase and Sovereign systems; and dealing with issues such as challenging clients, poor performing team members, liaising with the Parent executive and directors, and resolving credit and collection issues.

Despite Nationwide growing 120% during Tony's time there, there was no increase in headcount within their teams. In 2006, Tony left Nationwide to take up their current role at NZ Funds.

Tony Rae has a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Management from the University of Canterbury, a CA in Accounting from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Otago, and an Associate's Degree in Certificate in Business Studies from the Southern Institute of Technology.
