Iain Saunders

Iain Saunders serves as the All Black Sevens Mental Skills Consultant and Black Ferns Mental Skills Coach at New Zealand Rugby since May 2023 and as Performance Skills Lead for The Blues since January 2023, contributing expertise in mental skills training for the 2023 Super Aupiki campaign. Previously, Iain held several key positions within NZ Police, including Director of Resolutions and General Manager of Training, and served as a Senior Psychologist and Shift Commander in various roles from 2005 to 2016. Additionally, Iain operated as a Mental Skills Psychologist at Auckland Rugby Union and was the Head of School for Initial Training at the Royal New Zealand Police College from 2016 to 2021. Academic involvement includes lecturing at Massey University on personnel psychology from 2006 to 2007. Iain possesses an MA (Hons) in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Massey University.
