Richard Kensington's work experience includes the following:
- Principal: Academic Relations at UP Education from June 2019 to present. Their responsibilities involve focusing on New Zealand as a study destination, establishing academic relationships, and enhancing the work of the International Student Recruitment team.
- 2023 QS Reimagine Education Judge for the 10th edition of QS Reimagine Education Awards at QS Quacquarelli Symonds in October 2023.
- Evaluation panel member at Education New Zealand | Manapou ki te Ao, serving as part of the NZIEC KI TUA RFP to select the conference organizer for 2024-2026, from September 2023 to October 2023.
- Adjudicator at the China Daily Belt and Road Youth English Speaking Competition (New Zealand), participating as one of two adjudicators for the competition's finals held at The University of Auckland, from August 2023 to September 2023.
- Principal: Academic Relations and Registrar at ACG Schools from April 2019 to June 2019. Richard managed international students from application to their next stages in life, and also oversaw various schools, foundation, tertiary, and vocational programs.
- Registrar at Academic Colleges Group from February 2001 to June 2019. Richard led a team responsible for international student enrollments across ACG schools and programs.
- Trustee at Education New Zealand Trust from 2001 to September 2011.
- Deputy Principal at Kelston Girls High School from February 1990 to January 2001. Their responsibilities included administration, curriculum and assessment oversight, financial management, property oversight, and international student recruitment and management. Richard also managed various construction and improvement projects at the school.
