Andy Fyers

Andy Fyers is a highly experienced media professional with a strong background in data journalism and editorial innovation. Currently serving as the Joint Head of Editorial Innovation at New Zealand Media & Entertainment (NZME) since September 2024, Andy previously held roles as Data Product Manager and Data Journalist at BusinessDesk NZ from June 2020 to September 2024. Prior experience includes working as a Senior Data Journalist at Stuff from April 2014 to June 2020, where Andy specialized in data analysis, storytelling, and visualization. Andy also served as a Web Editor at Fairfax Media NZ from February 2012 to January 2014 and began a career at NZME. as a Sub-editor, focusing on page layout and copy editing for regional newspapers. Andy holds a Bachelor of Media Arts in Journalism from Wintec, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government and Economics from Victoria University of Wellington, alongside a Diploma in Applied Statistics from Massey University.
