Caroline Demmitt Smithson

Caroline Demmitt Smithson currently serves as an Early Literacy Facilitator and PreK Teacher at New Hanover County Schools since July 2022. Additionally, Caroline holds positions as a Group Exercise Instructor at YMCA of Southeastern NC and O2 Fitness Clubs, both started in October 2023 and August 2023, respectively. Previous experience includes working as a Kindergarten Teacher at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools from January 2017 to July 2022 and Group Exercise Instructor roles at YMCA of Greater Charlotte and University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Caroline has also volunteered as a Girls On The Run Coach and completed internships with American Creativity Academy and New Hanover County Schools. Caroline's educational background includes a Master of Education in Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy in Early Childhood from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, expected by July 2024, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Education of Young Children with a minor in Psychology from the same university.
