Karen Benn Marshall

VP, Academic Administration at Oakwood University

On April 17, 2016, Karen Benn Marshall, Ed.D., was elected Vice President of Academic Administration for Oakwood University. She was previously the Dean of the School of Nursing & Health Professions. Prior to coming to Oakwood, Dr. Marshall was the Dean of the School of Health Professions, Science and Wellness at Washington Adventist University.

Prior to that, she served as Chair and Professor of Biology at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus of Montgomery College, and as Associate Professor and Director of the Allied Health Program at Oakwood. She is a graduate of Oakwood College (BA), Alabama A&M University (MS), and Morgan State University (Ed.D.). Dr. Marshall has researched, published, and lectured extensively in the areas of education, science, and the health professions.

Dr. Marshall is married to Michael. They have two children: Briana, a student of Oakwood University, and Michael II, a student at Oakwood Adventist Academy.
