Greg Bacon has over 25 years of work experience in various companies and roles. Greg worked as a Unix administrator in ADTRAN, a senior data technician in CSC, and as a senior research associate, where they developed a system to query multi-terabyte repositories of earth science data using Java in the University of Alabama in Huntsville. At Boeing, they led a team of two developers in designing, implementing, and testing in C# and VB.NET flight-support software that generated and patched the Space Shuttle Main Engine Controller software's runtime parameters. At QinetiQ North America, they worked as a software engineer for the Aviation Mission Planning System and was the technical lead for their subcontractor. Greg also worked at deciBel Research, where they were a program manager and played a significant role in winning new business. As a contributor in CPAN, they had code in the Perl core and standard library. Greg later became a president in Omicron Research Corporation and OASYS, Inc. Currently, they work at The University of Alabama in Huntsville as a theoretical CS instructor.

Greg Bacon has a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics and Computer Science, both from The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Greg graduated from Alabama School of Mathematics and Science with a high school diploma. In addition, they have obtained various aviation-related certifications including Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI), Commercial Pilot ASEL with Instrument Rating, Remote Pilot - sUAS, and Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI), all from the Federal Aviation Administration.
