Phillip Shipley

Phillip Shipley, MSHRM, currently serves as the Director of Residential Education and Housing Operations at Oberlin College since July 2022. With extensive experience in higher education, Phillip previously worked at West Virginia University as the Assistant Director of Residence Life, contributing to the administration of a department supporting over 5,000 students and developing policies for student equity and success. Phillip’s background includes positions such as Adjunct Professor and Director of Residential Life and Housing at Northwood University, where responsibilities included curriculum development and representing the Dean of Students. Earlier roles at West Virginia Wesleyan College involved management of various campus life functions, and Phillip also directed a youth camp at WoodmenLife. Phillip holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Religion and Philosophy, and a Master of Science in Human Resources Management with a focus on Organizational Development from the University of Charleston.
