Kara Funk, SPHR

Kara Funk, SPHR has a wealth of experience in Human Resources, starting with their role as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at Lewis University in 2009. In 2011, they took on the role of Media Relations Associate at Bitesize PR. In 2009, they were also an HR Assistant at Classy Limousine. In 2012, they became an HR Generalist at the United States Soccer Federation, and in 2014, they held the role of Senior HR Analyst at Allstate and HR Manager at New York City FC. Most recently, from 2017 to 2021, they were a People & Culture Business Partner at Synpulse Management Consulting, where they managed and led their diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative, ‘Free to Be Me’ and served as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Counselor. Kara is currently the Chief People Officer and Director of People Operations at Obie.

Kara Funk, SPHR holds a Master of Arts in Psychology from Lewis University, which they obtained from 2009 to 2011. Kara also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which they obtained from 2003 to 2007. In addition, they have obtained a People Analytics certification from Coursera in October 2019, a Senior Professional in Human Resources® (SPHR®) Certification from HRCI in September 2021, and an Insights Discovery Practictioner certification from Insights.
