Human Systems Integration Lead at OBXtek

Eric Engel has a diverse range of work experience. Eric currently holds the position of Human Systems Integration Lead at OBXtek since 2022. Before that, they worked as a Human Factors Engineer at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory from 2017 to 2021. At this role, they performed task and human requirements analysis for unmanned aircraft systems, incorporated requirements into system architecture, and advocated for user-centered design. Prior to that, Eric worked as a Support Analyst at Cydecor, Inc., where they designed and created a database, edited organization status report deliverables, and developed training for defense brief writing. Eric also worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at George Mason University, where they contributed to the overhaul of a timesheet app, designed an interactive GPS app, and created a computational model of team trust in automation. Eric gained research experience as a Research Intern at the Air Force Research Laboratory, where they designed and ran experiments on unmanned aircraft systems and collaborated on the optimization of user interfaces. Furthermore, they took on the role of a Community Support Worker at Green Door, where they taught coping skills, created recovery plans, and gained a deep understanding of UX challenges in health records software. Eric also worked as an Intern at Clarendon House, providing tutoring, performing task analysis, leading a Peer Communications Group, and assessing independent living skills. Eric'searliest work experience was as a Staff/Teaching Assistant at Contemporary Keyboard Studios.

Eric Engel earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychology from Longwood University, where they attended from 2009 to 2013. Following this, they pursued further education at George Mason University, completing a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Human Factors Psychology from 2014 to 2016.
