Michael Avants

Michael Avants is a Diagnostic Imaging Medical Health Physicist with extensive experience in medical and occupational radiation health. Since January 2019, Michael has been employed at Occupational Services, Inc. In a distinguished military career with the US Navy dating back to June 1997, Michael served in various roles, including acting Vice Chairman of the Radiology Department on the USNS MERCY, overseeing significant personnel and equipment responsibilities. As a Radiation Health Officer, Michael managed health physics programs for occupational radiation workers and was pivotal in achieving ACR accreditation for the Computed Tomography Division at Navy Medical Center San Diego. Michael's educational background includes a Master’s degree in Medical Physics from San Diego State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Thomas Edison State University.
