Scott Phillips has a diverse work experience in the maritime and engineering industry. Scott started their career in 2000 as a Marine Chief Engineer at the American Maritime Officer Union. In 2001, they joined the US Navy as a Commissioned Officer. Scott then worked at Maersk Line Limited and Ocean Shipholdings Inc. as an Assistant Engineer, and later at Ocean Shipholdings Inc. as a Chief Engineer. In 2014, they worked at Sodexo as an HVAC Engineer. In 2015, they started their own company, SWP Engineering Services, LLC, where they served as the Owner and CEO. Scott also worked at Crowley Maritime as a Chief Engineer. Currently, Scott is working at Ocean Shipholdings Inc. as a Chief Engineer.

Scott Phillips completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Facilities Management / Engineering from the State University of New York Maritime College, where they studied from 1994 to 2000. In addition to their degree, Scott has obtained several certifications in various fields throughout their career. Scott holds certifications such as HVAC-R HC/HFO Technician from the Mainstream Engineering Corporation since October 2021, HVAC-R R1234VF Certification from Honeywell since July 2017, Chief Engineer (Steam) from the U.S. Coast Guard since May 2017, and Qualified Assessor, USCG from the U.S. Coast Guard since October 2016. Scott also holds certifications from the American Society of Power Engineers, including 1st Class Combined Cycle Combustion Turbine Plant Operating Engineer, 1st Class Diesel Plant Operating Engineer, 1st Class HVAC Chiller Operating Engineer, and 1st Class Power Plant Operating Engineer, all obtained in August 2014. Furthermore, they hold certifications such as 1st Class Gas Turbine Engineer from the National Association of Stationary Operating Engineers since February 2013 and 3rd Class Chiller Engineer, 3rd Class Combined Cycle Combustion Turbine Engineer, and 2nd Class Stationary Power Engineer, all obtained in 2013 from the same institution. Scott also holds the Chief Engineer (Gas Turbine) certification from the U.S. Coast Guard since December 2012 and the 3rd Class Refrigeration - Non-Ammonia certification from the State of New Jersey since September 2011. Lastly, they have obtained multiple certifications from the Mainstream Engineering Corporation, including HCAC-R Green Technician, HVAC-R Indoor Air Quality Technician, HVAC-R Preventative Maintenance Technician, and HVAC-R R-410A Technician, all in July 2010. Additionally, Scott holds the 2nd Class Stationary Engineer certification from the State of New Jersey since November 2009.
