Irene Galan Lecona is a dedicated veterinary professional with extensive experience in both clinical and research settings. Currently serving as a Veterinary Intern in a Small Animal Rotating Internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists & Bay State Veterinary Emergency Services since February 2023, Irene has previously worked as an Associate Veterinarian and Veterinary Extern at Potter League For Animals, and as an Emergency Veterinary Technician at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists. Educational background includes a Master of Science Degree in Conservation Medicine from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University, a DVM from Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio, and certifications from the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates and the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination. Research experience includes working on the Wildlife Biobank Project at Tufts and evaluation of cardiac function in bald eagles at The Raptor Center, University of Minnesota.
