Dayananda Vithanage

Director, Engineering at Oceanit

Dayananda Vithanage has over 40 years of experience in the engineering and conservation fields. Dayananda started their career in 1978 as the Chief Research Engineer for the Coast Conservation Department. In 1987, they moved to the Lanka Hydraulic Institute as the Chief Engineer. In 1990, they joined Oceanit as the Director of Engineering and Technical Director of Engineering and Coastal Engineer. In this role, they were responsible for heading the engineering business unit and supervising a staff of twenty including civil, environmental, and coastal engineers, biologists, planners, GIS specialists, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, and technicians. Dayananda also prepared proposals and conducted quality control and quality assurance on deliverables.

Dayananda Vithanage received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Ocean Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1987. Prior to that, they earned their Master's degree in Tidal and Coastal Engineering from Delft University of Technology in 1976.
