Florian Hiess

Florian Hiess has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Florian is currently the Head of Department Corporate Quality Plasma at Octapharma since July 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Boehringer Ingelheim as the Head of Environmental Monitoring & Hygienebeauftragter from November 2020 to June 2023. Florian also held the position of Process Owner at Takeda from January 2019 to November 2020, and at Shire from August 2018 to November 2020. Florian Hiess has also worked at U of C in the field of Cardiovascular and Neuroscientific R&D from 2014 to January 2018. Additionally, they have previous experience as an Environmental Scientist at Laboratory for Environmental Analytics (LUA), R&D Scientist at DuPont Performance Coatings Austria GmbH, Molecular Analyst in Quality Control at Public Food Security Center of Vienna MA38, and as an Analytical Scientist and Quality Control at Henkel.

Florian Hiess obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Technological University Dublin in the years 2002 to 2007. Florian then pursued a Master of Science degree in Biological Chemistry at the University of Vienna from 2009 to 2012. From 2012 to 2014, Florian obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Cardiovascular Science and Neuroscience from the University of Calgary. Additionally, they have acquired various certifications related to occupational health and safety, hazard assessment, incident reporting, workplace hazardous materials information systems, institutional animal use training, radioisotope safety, and hygiene from different institutions such as the University of Calgary and CONCEPT HEIDELBERG GmbH.
