Data Scientist at Octave Bioscience

Matt Burrill has a diverse work experience ranging from data analysis and healthcare to clinical programming and emergency medical services. Matt began their career as a Supervisor at Adobe Lodge Catering Company, where they demonstrated strong leadership and organizational skills. Later, they volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician at Santa Clara University, gaining valuable experience in providing emergency care and enhancing their communication and critical thinking abilities. Matt also worked as an Emergency Room Scribe at Regional Medical Center of San Jose, documenting medical information and assisting in the emergency room.

Moving into the healthcare industry, Matt joined Bioclinica as a Clinical Operations Associate, where they managed medical imaging for clinical trials and coordinated with clinical sites. Matt then transitioned to the role of Clinical Data Associate, where they wrote SAS and SQL programs for custom reports and configured the EDC system. In their subsequent role as a Clinical Programmer Analyst, they wrote SAS programs and SQL queries, developed SAS macros to streamline workflow, and performed data manipulation and normalization.

Matt then joined Prealize Health as a Healthcare Data Analyst, responsible for performing analysis and presenting findings to clients and stakeholders. Matt also contributed to the development and maintenance of production-level code and led multiple projects to completion. In their subsequent role as Senior Healthcare Data Analyst, they developed new models, conducted observational cohort studies, and contributed to code maintenance.

Currently, Matt is working as a Data Analyst at Octave, where they apply their skills and knowledge in data analysis to support the company's objectives.

Throughout their work experience, Matt has demonstrated strong technical skills, experience with medical claims data, and an ability to adapt to new frameworks and technologies. Matt has a proven track record of delivering results and collaborating effectively in team settings.

Matt Burrill attended Palos Verdes High School from 2006 to 2010. After high school, they studied at Santa Clara University from 2010 to 2014, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology, General. In 2015, they completed the Mobile Makers iOS Development Course. Currently, they are pursuing a Master of Science (MS) in Data Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, which they are expected to complete in 2025.
