Shamik Parekh

Shamik joined Octopus Ventures in 2020, having been a founding member of the TenX Health venture capital fund.

He previously worked at the National Association of Primary Care and helped roll out its digital program, which continues to serve as an accelerator and scale-up for early-stage UK and European health tech companies.

Shamik also brings experience from Cerracap Ventures, a venture capital fund based in California. He was involved in deal sourcing, due diligence, market deep dives, and creating investment theses for new investments along with fundraising support.

He began his career at a hedge fund, where he was involved in managing, financing, and developing commodity supply chains, as well as supporting artisanal mining programs across Bolivia, Turkey, South Africa, and Papua New Guinea.

Shamik holds an MSc in finance and management from the University of Exeter and completed his thesis on private equity buy and build strategies and post-acquisition integration.
