Odd Arts

Odd Arts is a Manchester Charity established in 2004 delivering innovative and creative programmes across all art forms, with vulnerable and excluded groups. Odd Arts work in four main settings: in the community, education, health and criminal justice service. Odd Arts specialises in delivering theatre-based programmes that challenge and change attitudes and behaviours. Odd Arts works with participants to devise theatre, from their own experiences as well as touring performances on challenging topics. All our theatre and creative projects aim to increase wellbeing, communication skills, confidence, self worth, opportunities and creativity. Odd Arts delivers theatre in three main ways:- - Professional theatre tours and workshops on complex themes (knife crime, consent, child criminal exploitation, radicalisation, mental health) to over 20,000 people per year. - Long term therapeutic theatre projects in schools, communities and secure settings aiming to reduce risk and increase resilience in the people we work with. - Social action projects where members of the community make their own theatre performance , art work or film in response to a subject that matters to them. Odd Arts are specialists in Radicalisation and CEO Rebecca Friel sits on the National Criminal Justice Arts Alliance Steering Group. All of Odd Arts' work is underpinned by restorative and strengths based approaches, is trauma informed and promotes non-violent communication.
