Professional Standars Unit at Odessa Police Department

Yuri Herrera has extensive experience in law enforcement and support roles, currently serving in the Professional Standards Unit as a Sergeant and Police Officer with the Odessa Police Department since July 2014. In addition, Yuri operates as a Polygraph Examiner Sponsor at Herrera Polygraph Services, a position held since November 2022. As part of the Texas Law Enforcement Peer Network since July 2021, Yuri provides peer support. In a leadership capacity, Yuri serves as the Regional Vice President for Region 5 with the Texas Association of Hostage Negotiators from January 2023 to January 2024. Yuri's military background includes serving as a Master-at-Arms in the US Navy Reserve from February 2008 to April 2011 and as an Aviation Ordnanceman in the US Navy from February 2002 to February 2008. Educationally, Yuri holds an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Odessa College.
