Alberto Fernandez Fernandez is an accomplished professional in nuclear energy and engineering, currently serving as Government Commissioner at SCK CEN since February 2024. With extensive experience in leadership roles, Alberto has been Vice Chair of the Steering Committee and Belgian Representative for the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency since June 2013, contributing to the fields of nuclear safety and technology. Since February 2012, Alberto has held the position of Director of Nuclear Applications at the Belgian Ministry of Economy & Energy, also serving as Nuclear Attaché. Additional roles include membership on the Governing Boards of Belgoprocess N.V. and Fusion for Energy, where expertise in nuclear waste management and fusion energy development is leveraged. Alberto's earlier career involved significant contributions as a Project Leader at SCK CEN and experience in business development within the cigar industry. Alberto holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering and an MBA in Strategy and Finance, along with additional qualifications in nuclear law.
