John McCarthy is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the fields of taxation and technology. Currently a member of the OECD Technical Advisory Group, McCarthy provides expert advice on consumption tax policy. As former President of Ecommerce Tax and Paytech at Vertex Inc., McCarthy contributed to significant advancements in ecommerce taxation. McCarthy previously served as Executive Director at FEXCO, where important mobile payment initiatives were driven, and as Head of New Revenue Streams and Innovation, McCarthy spearheaded the company’s innovation efforts. Additionally, McCarthy founded and led Taxamo as CEO, simplifying VAT/GST compliance for digital businesses globally. McCarthy holds a degree in Philosophy and Politics from Trinity College Dublin.
