Environmental Protection Specialist

Charlie "Cheul-Woo" Kwak is an experienced environmental professional with a robust background in various specialized roles. Currently serving as an Environmental Protection Specialist at the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement since November 2021, Charlie has previously held positions as a Natural Resources Specialist and Geographic Information Systems Technician at the Bureau of Land Management. Additional experience includes a White House Internship in the Office of Presidential Correspondence, as well as roles as a Plant Ecologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, an Environmental Education Intern, and a Field Researcher focused on marine biology. Charlie's educational background includes a Master’s degree in Environmental Biology with GIS certification from Hood College and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Wheaton College.
