Assistant Attorney General at Office of the Minnesota Attorney General

Emily Anderson is an experienced attorney currently serving as an Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Minnesota Attorney General since March 2021, representing the Department of Human Services and the citizens of Minnesota in various federal and state litigations. Prior to this role, Emily worked as a litigation associate at Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A., focusing on appeals, class actions, and antitrust law, along with pro bono work in appeals and constitutional law. Emily's legal experience includes serving as a licensed student attorney at the Exoneration Project at the University of Chicago, advocating for incarcerated individuals in post-conviction proceedings, and externing at LAF where support was provided to subsidized housing tenants facing unfair practices. Additionally, Emily contributed to sociological research as a research assistant at the Minnesota Population Center, where analytical work led to a published paper on grade retention in elementary schools. Emily holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology of Law, Criminology, and Deviance from the University of Minnesota.
