Michael Webster

Michael Webster is an accomplished public management professional currently serving as the Privacy Commissioner at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand since July 2022. Prior to this role, Michael held various significant positions, including Secretary of the Cabinet and Clerk of the Executive Council at the Cabinet Office, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet from July 2008 to July 2022. Additional experience includes serving as City Secretary at Wellington City Council and as Manager of Strategy and Performance at the Department of Internal Affairs. Earlier in Michael's career, managerial roles were also held at the State Services Commission. Michael holds a Master of Public Management and a BA (Hons) from Victoria University of Wellington.
