Chief, Alternatives To Incarceration Unit at Office of The Richmond County District Attorney

Jason Cohen has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2008 as an undergraduate intern at the Office of The Richmond County District Attorney. Jason then served as a legal intern at the Supreme Court of Richmond County in 2011 and as a legal intern at the Office of The Richmond County District Attorney in 2012. In 2013, they were a legal intern at the Kings County District Attorneys Office. From 2014 to 2015, Jason worked as an attorney at Mental Hygiene Legal Service, representing clients detained under mental health warrants. Jason then had various roles at the Office of The Richmond County District Attorney, including Assistant District Attorney in the Crime Strategies Unit, Criminal Court Bureau, and Domestic Violence Bureau. Since 2018, Jason has been serving as the Chief of the Alternatives to Incarceration Unit at the Office of The Richmond County District Attorney. In this role, they oversee a multidisciplinary team and handles felony and misdemeanor compliance in various treatment courts and parts.

Jason Cohen has a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, which they obtained from 2010 to 2013. Jason also participated in a Study Abroad program at the University of Havana in 2012, focusing on advanced theories in criminal law. In 2006, they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Purchase College, SUNY. Additionally, they engaged in another Study Abroad program at Yonsei University in 2008, specifically studying US Law.
