Justin Stanek

Legislative Liaison at Ohio Department of Youth Services

Justin Stanek, Legislative Liaison, works closely with members and staff of the Ohio General Assembly to advocate on behalf of DYS and the youth involved in the juvenile justice system. He oversees legislative efforts for DYS and is involved in representing the agency during the biennial budget process. He is also responsible for shepherding DYS funding requests through the Controlling Board. He serves as one of the Director’s designees on the Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission and teaches workshops on legislation and advocacy for DYS staff enrolled in the Executive Leadership program.

Justin previously served as a Legislative Aide in the Ohio House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate, where he served as a clerk for the House Ways and Means Committee, the House Public Utilities Committee, and the Ohio Constitutional Modernization Commission. During his time working in the General Assembly, he helped obtain over $4 million in funding for community projects and grants. He successfully guided seven pieces of legislation into law.

Justin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History from The Ohio State University.
