Dave Smit

Dave Smit has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Since 2023, they have been serving as a Member of the Board of Directors at Maanaveeya Development & Finance Private Limited, an Indian subsidiary of Oikocredit International. Dave holds the position of Director of Impact Investments at Oikocredit since 2022.

Prior to these roles, Dave was a Supervisory Board Member at DLM Finance from 2016 to 2023. Dave also served as an Advisory Committee Member at Africinvest Financial Sector Ltd from 2018 to 2022. Dave began their career at FMO - Dutch Development Bank in 2009, where they held various roles such as Senior Investment Officer Private Equity Africa, Senior Investment Officer South-East Asia, Director Agribusiness & Infrastructure, Manufacturing and Services, Director Mid Office, and Manager Structured Finance Energy Africa and Latin America.

Before joining FMO, Dave worked at ABN AMRO Lease Holding/LeasePlan as an International Credit Manager from 2000 to 2002, and at MeesPierson/Fortis as an International Trainee focused on Structured Finance and equity investments in captives from 1996 to 2000.

Dave Smit's education history begins in 1982 when they attended Van Maerlantlyceum Eindhoven, where they obtained their Atheneum degree. From 1988 to 1994, they studied at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, earning a Master of Science in Business Administration (drs) with a field of study in Business Administration.

In 2011, Dave Smit attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) for a brief period to study Climate Change Economics and Governance. The following year, in 2012, they participated in a Masterclass on Private Equity at the London Business School.

Recently, in 2020, Dave Smit enrolled in a program at Yale University focused on The Science of Well-Being. The specific degree name for this program is not provided.
