Sanjib Puhan (He/Him)

Sanjib Puhan (He/Him) has extensive experience in the field of financial services and microfinance. Sanjib started their career in 2000 as a Microfinance Analyst at CARE India, where they played a key role in setting up systems and procedures for partner MFIs and linking them to mainstream financial institutions. Sanjib also contributed to the management of operations, audits, portfolio, and client protection measures.

In 2006, Sanjib joined ICICI Bank Ltd. as a Senior Manager before transitioning to FINO PayTech Limited in 2008, where they served as the Zonal Head for Eastern India. In this role, they oversaw the company's portfolio of Business Correspondents, facilitating financial inclusion in the region by partnering with private and public sector banks.

Sanjib later took on the role of Chief Operating Officer at AGORA MICROFINANCE GROUP, where they focused on providing financial services and education to marginalized communities in Mumbai's slums. Sanjib managed operations, finance, HR, audits, and staff training.

In 2011, Sanjib joined CAP WDI Pvt. Ltd. & CAP Foundation as Senior Vice President & Executive Director, where they handled vocational skill development training with a focus on financial inclusion in India and Kenya. Sanjib was responsible for integrated developmental projects, corporate social responsibility, HR, budgeting, audits, operations, and stakeholder management.

Sanjib's career then led him to Accion, where they worked as a Financial Services Consultant from 2021 to 2022, and later as a Manager from 2015 to 2017. In these roles, they implemented agent banking and financial literacy projects, with a particular emphasis on reaching underserved populations and promoting ethical financial inclusion.

In 2017, Sanjib became the Chief Strategy Officer at NBFC-MFI, where they played a pivotal role in developing organizational strategies for inclusive financial services. Sanjib held this position until 2020.

Prior to their current position, Sanjib worked as the Director of Grameen Foundation India from 2022 to 2023, overseeing various initiatives and projects aimed at empowering marginalized communities.

Currently, Sanjib is employed as an Investment Manager at Oikocredit, where they utilize their expertise in financial inclusion to manage investment portfolios.

Sanjib Puhan (He/Him) pursued their education at Utkal University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree from 1987 to 1990. During this time, their field of study focused on Accounting and Business/Management. Following this, they pursued a Master of Commerce (M.Com) degree from 1991 to 1992, with a specialization in Business Finance, General Management, Organizational Behavior, and Marketing Management. Sanjib continued their education at Utkal University, earning a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from 1992 to 1995, before completing their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Finance & Marketing as Majors from 1993 to 1995.
