Blake McLean's work experience includes serving as the Director of Performance Research & Development and Senior Performance Science Lead for the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2016 to present. Blake also worked as a Senior Lecturer for Sport, Exercise & Rehabilitation at the University of Technology Sydney starting in 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a Sports Scientist & Strength Coach for the Wests Tigers Rugby League Pty Ltd from 2014 to 2016, and as a Strength & Conditioning Consultant for the Southern Methodist University and Collingwood Football Club from 2013 to 2016 and 2011 to 2014, respectively. Additionally, they worked as a Sports Scientist at The University of Texas at Austin from 2009 to 2011 and as a Strength & Conditioning Coach for the South Sydney Rabbitohs from 2006 to 2009.

Blake McLean began their education in 2005 at the University of Technology Sydney, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Movement Studies in 2007. In 2008, they pursued further studies at the same university and completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Human Movement Studies.

In 2009, Blake McLean enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin, where they earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Exercise Physiology. Blake continued their academic journey by pursuing a Ph.D. at the Australian Catholic University from 2011 to 2014, concentrating on Exercise Physiology.

Additionally, Blake McLean has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. Blake is an Accredited High Performance Manager and an Accredited Sports Scientist (Level 2) certified by Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA). Furthermore, they hold the certifications of Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and Level 2 Strength & Conditioning Coach from the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA).
