Melissa Richards

Melissa Richards, D-ABMDI, has extensive experience in the field of medicolegal death investigation and management. Currently serving as Branch Coordinator at Old Dominion Eye Foundation since August 2015, Melissa also holds a position as a Medicolegal Death Investigator with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner since June 2011. In this role, responsibilities include investigating state jurisdiction deaths, responding to crime scenes, taking photographs, collecting evidence, and conducting interviews. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Forensic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (2013-2015), a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Lynchburg (2007-2011), and ongoing doctoral studies in Forensic Psychology at Walden University.
