Annie Gibson

Assistant to the President, Local, State & Federal Governmental Relations at Old Dominion University

Annie Gibson has worked in government relations for over eight years. Annie began their career as an Assistant Director for Legislative Affairs and Policy Development for the Office of the Governor of Virginia. In this role, they were responsible for communicating the Governor's legislative agenda to state legislators and developing policy initiatives. Annie then served as a Legislative Aide to the President pro tempore of the Senate of Virginia. In this role, they advised the President pro tempore on legislative matters and assisted with the development of Senate policies. After a brief stint working in the private sector as an Account Coordinator for Royall & Company, Annie returned to government work as the Deputy Director of Government Relations for Virginia Commonwealth University and Health System. In this role, they advocated on behalf of the university and health system before local, state, and federal government officials. Annie is currently the Assistant to the President for Local, State & Federal Governmental Relations at Old Dominion University. In this role, they manage the university's governmental relations efforts and coordinates its lobbying activities.

Annie Gibson has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Mary Washington. Annie also attended York Suburban High School.

They work with Alonzo Brandon - VP, University Advancement, September Sanderlin - VP, HR, and Don Stansberry - VP of SEES. Annie Gibson reports to Brian O. Hemphill, President.
