Hong Qin

Hong Qin serves as the Department Head of Computer Science & Engineering at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga since April 2016, with a concurrent role as Professor of Computer Science and Biology. As a Principal Investigator, Hong has led multiple initiatives, including the AI TN Initiative focused on generative AI for dynamic graph modeling and projects funded by the NSF in areas such as predictive intelligence for pandemic prevention and cybersecurity. Hong's prior academic roles include positions at Spelman College and Tuskegee University, along with visiting faculty appointments at prestigious institutions like Princeton University and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Chicago and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Loyola University Chicago. Additional service includes academic editorial positions for scientific journals such as Springer Nature Group's Scientific Reports and PLOS One.
