Johann Els

Johann Els currently serves as the Group Chief Economist at Old Mutual Limited, a position held since August 2023. Prior to this role, Johann had a long tenure at Old Mutual Investment Group, where Johann held multiple positions including Chief Economist and Senior Economist from April 1991 to August 2023. Earlier in their career, Johann worked as an Economist at Absa Group and as an Economic Analyst at the South African Reserve Bank. Johann's academic background includes a Master's degree in Commerce, specializing in Economics, from Stellenbosch University, where Johann also held a role as an Economics Lecturer in 1988-1989.
