Damaris Abella (Rivera) began their work experience in 2000 as a Product Support Analyst at NETg. Damaris then took on roles as a Senior Product Support Analyst, Gateway Learning Support Supervisor, and Product Support Specialist. In 2003, they joined Apropos Technology as a Product Manager. From 2003 to 2004, they worked at NETg as a Software Project Manager. In 2004, they transitioned to Syntellect as a Product Manager. Since 2006, Damaris has been working at Old Second National Bank as the Vice President - Support Center, overseeing all Customer Support Center locations for the bank's 48 branches.

Damaris Abella (Rivera) pursued their higher education from 1996 to 1999 at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems Management. In addition to their academic achievements, Damaris also acquired certifications in various professional areas. In October 2018, they became a certified Diversity & Inclusion Facilitator through The Kaleidoscope Group. During the same period, they also obtained certification as a Situational Leadership II Facilitator from The Ken Blanchard Companies.
