Bruno Silvester Lopes is an accomplished microbiologist currently serving as the Members panel (EDI) co-chair elect 2025 and advisory council member at the Microbiology Society, focusing on equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. Lopes is also the editor of the Journal of Medical Microbiology for ESCMID and the treasurer for the ESCMID Food and Waterborne Infections Study Group, responsible for organizing seminars and engaging early career researchers. As a lecturer in microbiology at Teesside University and a content creator on YouTube addressing food sustainability, Lopes actively contributes to community efforts through volunteering as a Food Waste Hero with OLIO. With an extensive educational background including a PhD in Medical Microbiology from the University of Edinburgh and multiple degrees in microbiology and biochemistry, Lopes brings a wealth of expertise and commitment to the field.
