Prior to that, they were a Health Sciences Professional - Case & Contact Tracing, Emerging Pathogens at Vancouver Coastal Health in 2020. In 2019, they worked at both Nova Biomedical as a Clinical Training Specialist/ Technical Applications Specialist and at LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services as a Medical Lab Technologist. From 2008 to 2010, they were a Haemonetics SA - Quality Systems - Manager Complaints Europe. From 2006 to 2008, they worked at Canadian Blood Services as a Blood Products & Services - Training Coordinator & Relief Lab Manager and a Virology Molecular Diagnostics Technologist. Finally, from 1985 to 2006, they were a Children's & Women's Health Center of BC - Biochemical Genetics Technologist and a Clinical Biochemistry Technologist at the Provincial Health Services Authority.
Gina Wenger obtained a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science from The University of British Columbia in 1983. Gina completed Molecular Genetics Courses at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1997-1998. In 2001, they completed a Certificate in Bioinformatics from The University of British Columbia, Canadian Bioinformatics Institute, and Canadian Genetics Diseases Network. Also in 2001, they completed Faculty of Medicine - PATH 438: Undergraduate & PATH 548: Graduate Directed Research Study Projects in Microarray Bioinformatics & Mass Spectrometry at The University of British Columbia. In 1994-1996, they completed a Certificate in Fashion Arts at Vancouver Community College (VCC). In 2010-2014, they completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Conception & Development of e-Learning Projects (Taught in French) at the University of Geneva. Additionally, in 1981, they obtained a Registered Medical Technologist certification from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science.
