Esther Leystra

Esther Leystra is the Founder of Sustainable Impact Stories, which commenced in January 2024, and serves as a Project Manager & Communications Specialist at the Plastic Soup Surfer Organisation since December 2020, focusing on reducing plastic pollution through innovative expeditions. Additionally, Esther has been a freelance journalist and reporter at Omrop Fryslân since March 2020, with experience in live reporting and camera journalism. In March 2024, Esther took on the role of sustainability advisor at Gemeente Assen, having previously worked as a project secretary for refugee reception from September 2022 to January 2024. Earlier experience includes working on human-wildlife conflict research during an internship at the National Trust for Nature Conservation and consulting on urbanization at Hue University of Economics. Esther holds a Master's in Sustainable Development from Utrecht University and a Bachelor's in Sociology from the University of Groningen, along with a strong academic background from Dockinga College.
