Stephen Smith

Stephen Smith has over 30 years of work experience in the legal and IT sectors. From 1989-1994, they worked as a Solicitor at Bevan Brittan LLP and at Lyons Davidson Limited from 1994-1999. In 1999, they founded Lawsys Ltd, a computer software design and development company, where they were the Managing Director and Shareholder until 2005. From 2005-2006, they worked as an IT Manager and Business Consultant at David Gist Solicitors. Stephen then worked at Walkers from 2006-2016 in various roles, such as Head of Enterprise Risk Management, IT Risk Manager, and Senior IT Project Manager. From 2016-2019, they worked at MetLife as an EMEA Privacy Specialist. Since 2019, they have been working at OnceHub, where they currently hold the roles of Chief Information Officer, Director of IT, Risk & Data Protection, and Trust & Data Protection Officer.

Stephen Smith's education history includes a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) from the University of Southampton from 1985-1988, followed by the Law Society Final Examinations from the University West England in 1988-1989. Stephen also attended Bristol Cathedral School. Additionally, Stephen has obtained several certifications, including Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control\u2122 (CRISC) from ISACA in 2015, Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) from IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in 2015, Information Systems Risk (Merit) from the Institute of Risk Management in 2014, and Cobit 5 Foundation from Cobit in 2014.
