VP Clinical Development at Oncternal Therapeutics

Yisrael Katz, M.D. is an experienced medical professional with a diverse background. Yisrael started their career as a Postgraduate Researcher at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 2014. Yisrael then continued their journey at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as a Resident Physician in Internal Medicine. Moving forward, they co-founded The Step 1 Method, LLC, where they developed a clinical strategy-based preparation course for medical licensing exams and trained a team of medical educators. In 2017, they joined Clinical Strategy, LLC as Founder and Owner, focusing on advancements in clinical deductive reasoning techniques and medical school curricula. Additionally, they worked as an Associate Faculty at ASU Biodesign Institute and later served as the Medical Director at CALVIRI, overseeing the design of first-in-human trials for cancer diagnostics and therapeutics. Following this, they joined UC San Diego Health as an Attending Physician specializing in novel and investigational immunotherapies. Yisrael then became a Medical Director at Exelixis, leading various clinical development activities in oncology. Most recently, they held the position of Senior Medical Director at Viracta Therapeutics, Inc., where they spearheaded the solid tumor program and supported the clinical development of therapies for EBV+ malignancies. Currently, they serve as the VP Clinical Development at Oncternal Therapeutics.

Yisrael Katz, M.D. completed a Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and Business at Washington University in St. Louis from 2004 to 2008. Yisrael then obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine from 2010 to 2014. Subsequently, they pursued Board Certification in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center from 2014 to 2017.
