Lucio D'Andrea, PhD has extensive work experience in various biotechnological and research roles. Lucio is currently the Head of Biotech Research at one • five, where they have been since September 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Systems Biology and Metabolic Engineering Lead at the same company from January to September 2022. Before joining one • five, Lucio worked as a Biotechnology Specialist at the company from February 2021 to December 2021.
Lucio's research career began as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Università degli Studi di Milano from January 2021 to December 2021. Lucio then moved on to work as an Investigador Posdoctoral at Max Plank Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology from June 2017 to January 2021, focusing on evolutionary and biotechnological implications of plant speciation and RNA editing in plastids.
Prior to their time at the Max Planck Institute, Lucio worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Max Planck Society for Molecular Plant Physiology from June 2017 to January 2021, conducting research on horizontal genome transfer and exploring the generation of new plant species with novel metabolomes.
Lucio's early research experience includes being a Becario Predoctoral at Research Center of Agricultural Genomics from July 2012 to January 2021, and a PhD Student at Research Center for Agricultural Genomics from July 2012 to July 2016. During their PhD studies, they focused on molecular regulation of carotenoid biosynthesis in tomato fruits and new biotechnological alternatives.
Additionally, Lucio has gained short-term research experience as a Quantitative Proteomics researcher at Cornell University from May 2015 to August 2015, where they studied the role of the Clp protease during tomato fruit chromoplast differentiation. Lucio also worked as a Becario at Centro Nacional de Biotecnología from September 2010 to June 2012, and undertook a Doctorando role at Centro Nacional de Biotecnología in 2010.
Lucio D'Andrea, PhD, has an extensive education history in the field of molecular biology and biotechnology. From 2012 to 2016, they pursued their PhD in Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona, specializing in research. Prior to their doctorate, they obtained a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid from 2010 to 2011, focusing on molecular biology. Additionally, they completed a Master's program in Microbial Biotechnology at the same institution from 2010 to 2012.
Before entering the realm of postgraduate studies, D'Andrea earned their Bachelor's degree in Plant Biotechnology from Universidad Nacional de Rosario, a five-year program that they completed from 2005 to 2010.
In addition to their academic achievements, D'Andrea has also obtained several certifications. In October 2022, they received certifications in "Measuring Team Performance" and "Project Management Foundations: Budgets" from LinkedIn. Earlier in January 2022, they completed a certification called "R Essential Training Part 2: Modeling Data," also offered by LinkedIn.
