Matt Hill

President & Founder at One Tree Planted

Matt Hill is the President and Founder of One Tree Planted, an environmental non-profit dedicated to global reforestation. One Tree Planted works with partners in North America, South America, Asia, and Africa to plant trees in areas affected by deforestation, disaster, or poverty.

Matt has over 25 years of experience in business development and marketing. Matt began their career in 1994 as a Business Development Manager for Mid National Investments. In 2001, they transitioned to Merrill Lynch as a Business Development Specialist in the Sports Industry. In 2004, they co-founded Liquid Nutrition with James Kane. Liquid Nutrition is a hybrid concept of smoothies and nutritional supplements that raised venture capital to expand its concept and take public on the TSX. The company grew to 15 stores in Montreal and 2 in Toronto before being sold to VC in 2007.

In 2009, Matt started EcoSteps, a national sales representation company for sustainable food packaging in Canada. Through EcoSteps, they secured key accounts with the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Loblaws, Sobeys, Molson, Lotto Quebec, www.ecoproducts.com, and www.begreenpackaging.com. Matt ran EcoSteps until 2013 when they left to focus on One Tree Planted full time.

Under Matt’s leadership, One Tree Planted has planted millions of trees around the world and continues to grow its impact through corporate partnerships, fundraising campaigns, and educational initiatives.

Matt Hill has a MBA in Marketing from Canisius College and an MSc. in Sports Management from Canisius College. Matt also has a BA in Political Science from Concordia University.
