Michael Murray currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Arts Council since August 2022, responsible for strategic leadership and management of programs in alignment with the organization's mandate. Prior to this role, Michael held significant positions at ACTRA, including Director of PRS where efforts focused on the rights and royalties for Canadian performers, and was also a Director at ACTRA RACS. As Executive Director of the Toronto Musicians' Association from August 2015 to February 2021, Michael led strategic initiatives for local musicians. Earlier experience at Ontario Arts Council includes roles that involved supporting artists and arts organizations. Michael also has a background as Executive Director of UrbanArts, promoting community engagement through the arts. Educational qualifications include an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, a CPA designation, and an Honours Bachelor of Music from McGill University.

OAC is an agency that operates at arm's length from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. The OAC's grants and services to professional, Ontario-based artists and arts organizations support arts education, Indigenous arts, community arts, crafts, dance, Francophone arts, literature, media arts, multidisciplinary arts, music, theatre, touring, and visual arts. The OAC is directed by 12 volunteer board (council) members who come from communities throughout the province. They are appointed by the Government of Ontario for a three-year term. The OAC's board is responsible for setting OAC's policies and oversees the organization's operation. --- Le CAO est un organisme qui fonctionne de manière indépendante et qui relève du Ministère du Tourisme, de la Culture et des Jeux.
