Maura Campbell

President and CEO at Ontario Bioscience Industry Organization

Maura Campbell has an extensive background in the bioscience and healthcare industry. Maura is currently serving as the President and CEO of the Ontario Bioscience Innovation Organization, a position they have held since February 2022. Prior to their current role, Campbell worked at Turnstone Biologics as the Vice President of Intellectual Property and Contracts from 2015 to 2022.

Before joining Turnstone Biologics, they held the position of Senior Research Program Manager at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute from 2011 to 2014. Campbell also worked as the Director of Intellectual Property at VBI Vaccines Inc. from 2009 to 2011, and at PainCeptor Pharma Corporation from 2004 to 2009.

Campbell's career in technology transfer and commercialization began at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, where they served as the Manager of Technology Transfer and Commercialization from 2001 to 2009. Prior to that, they held the position of Manager of Technology Transfer at the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Systems NCE from 1997 to 2001.

Throughout their career, Campbell has gained comprehensive knowledge and experience in intellectual property management, contracts, and technology transfer in the healthcare and bioscience sectors.

Maura Campbell completed their education in the field of Biochemistry. Maura obtained a Bachelor's degree (B. Sc.) in Biochemistry from Queen's University, where they studied from 1980 to 1984. Following that, they pursued a Master's degree (M. Sc.) in Biochemistry from Queen's University as well, from 1984 to 1988. Finally, Maura further advanced their education by earning a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa, where they studied from 1989 to 1993.
