Juan Blackwell

Juan Blackwell has extensive work experience in the financial industry. Juan is currently the Director and Head of Credit & Counterparty Risk Management at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan since June 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Senior Principal and Head of Credit & Counterparty Risk Management at the same company from January 2017 to June 2022.

Before joining Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Juan held various positions at TD Securities, starting as an Associate in the Corporate & Investment Banking Group and later becoming a Vice President in Treasury Credit, Investment Banking. Juan worked at TD Securities from January 2008 to April 2013.

Additionally, Juan has worked as a Finance Committee Member at the Psychology Foundation of Canada from 2006 to 2008. Juan also gained experience at Toronto Dominion Bank Financial Group, where they held multiple management associate roles in different departments, such as Global Structured Trade Finance, Commercial Banking, and Term Investment Products, from 2005 to 2007.

Juan's early career includes an internship as a Financial Analyst and Economic Research intern at TechnoServe in 2002.

Juan Blackwell earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Double Major Business Economics and Finance from Ave Maria University, where they attended from 2000 to 2003. Prior to that, from 1999 to 2000, they studied Business/Managerial Economics and Finance at the University of Mobile. Juan later pursued an MBA with a focus on Corporate Finance at HEC Montréal from 2004 to 2005.
