Truyen Nguyen is currently working as a Senior Research Scientist in Algorithms Development at Onto Innovation since September 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Professor of Applied Mathematics at The University of Akron from August 2007 to May 2022. During their time at the university, Truyen developed various algorithms for solving classification problems, reparametrized sample weights for kernel-reweighted regression, and created a model for multi-source domain adaptation. Before their position at The University of Akron, they were a Visiting Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology from January 2006 to June 2007. Truyen also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute from August 2005 to January 2006.
Truyen Nguyen completed their Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Science in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam from 1994 to 1998. They then pursued further education at Temple University, where they obtained a Master's degree in Mathematics from 2001 to 2002. Following this, Truyen Nguyen continued their academic journey at Temple University and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Applied Mathematics from 2002 to 2005.
