Wei Ming Chiew

Wei Ming Chiew has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles.

In 2016, Wei Ming Chiew joined Onto Innovation as a Senior Software Engineer, later transitioning to the role of Senior Software Engineer (Data Science). Subsequently, they were promoted to Staff Software Engineer (Data Science) and ultimately became the Manager, Staff Software Engineer (Data Science) in April 2023.

In 2020, Wei Ming Chiew also worked at SmartJen as a Tech Advisor.

Prior to that, from 2014 to 2016, Wei Ming Chiew worked at HP as an R&D Engineer. They were responsible for the development and design of Scan, Copy, and Fax (SCF) functions for HP's business inkjet printers. They also led the development of SCF Writing Systems for flagship products and collaborated on SCF functions for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8700 series.

From 2012 to 2014, Wei Ming Chiew worked as a Postgraduate Researcher at the Emerging Research Lab, Nanyang Technological University.

In 2012, Wei Ming Chiew was the CTO and Founding Partner at HYLGHT, a startup venture focused on providing an online shopping recommendation platform through fashion-based image searching. They achieved recognition as one of the top 15 finalists out of 280 ideas in the competition.

Wei Ming Chiew has a strong education background in computer engineering and electrical & electronic engineering. They obtained their B. Eng (Honors) degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (Information Communication - Telecommunications) from Nanyang Technological University Singapore in 2008. They then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Computer Engineering from the same university, completing it in 2014.

In addition to their formal education, Wei Ming Chiew has also acquired several certifications to enhance their knowledge and skills. They obtained a Deep Learning Nanodegree from Udacity in December 2017. They also completed various courses on Coursera, including "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," "Structuring Machine Learning Projects," "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization," "Convolutional Neural Networks," and "Sequence Models," all completed between 2020 and 2021. Moreover, they completed a "Deep Learning: Image Recognition" course on LinkedIn in November 2019, and a "Machine Learning and AI Foundations: Predictive Modeling Strategy at Scale" course on LinkedIn in the same month. Additionally, they acquired a "Software Architecture Foundations" certification on LinkedIn in November 2019.

Most recently, Wei Ming Chiew obtained certifications in "ChatGPT Prompt Engineering for Developers" from OpenAI in July 2023. It is apparent that they have a strong interest in deep learning and machine learning, acquiring certifications and knowledge to enhance their expertise in these areas.
