Kristian Hiljander has extensive experience in the insurance industry, particularly in the motor insurance sector. Kristian currently serves as the VP and Head of Motor Insurance at Pohjola Insurance, where they are responsible for managing a 500M€ motor insurance portfolio, overseeing products and services, profitability, and partner networks. Additionally, they lead a team in Finland and India and plays a key role in spearheading organizational leadership transformation. Prior to this role, Hiljander held the position of VP and Head of Motor Insurance and Claims for Private Customers at OP Financial Group, where they had overall responsibility for motor insurance products, sales, profitability, and services, including claims management and partner management. Before that, they served as a Senior Manager at OP Claims, responsible for motor claims operations, customer service, and business development. Hiljander has also held various managerial roles within the OP Financial Group, focusing on business planning, development, and motor claims. In addition to their work at Pohjola Insurance and OP Financial Group, they are currently the Chairman of the Board at Finnish Motor Insurers' Centre.
Kristian Hiljander completed their M.Sc. degree in Insurance Science and Organizational Theories and Leadership from the University of Tampere, Tampere Business School, from 2000 to 2005. In 2016, they completed the OP Leadership Program at Hanken & SSE Executive Education. Kristian is currently pursuing a program in Insurance Management Simulation at the Swiss Re Institute, starting in 2022 and ending in 2023. Additionally, in 2011, they received CSPO certification from the Scrum Alliance as a Certified Scrum Product Owner.
