Fellowship Coach at The OpEd Project

Sarah Garrecht Gassen is an experienced journalism professional currently serving as the Business Editor at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch since July 2022. With a robust background in public education, health care, social services, and disability issues, Sarah also holds multiple roles at The OpEd Project as a Fellowship Coach, writing coach, and mentor/editor. As Opinion Editor and Columnist at the Arizona Daily Star since April 1997, Sarah supervises university students through a partnership with the University of Arizona. Additional experience includes directing a mentoring and apprentice program, providing local analysis on The Buckmaster Show, and serving as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Arizona School of Journalism. Sarah has also contributed to national journalism initiatives through the New York Times Student Journalism Institute and holds board membership at the Journalism and Women Symposium. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Arizona.
