Chief Technology Officer & CISO at Open Door Family Medical Center

Mikkel Finsen has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Mikkel is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer & CISO at Open Door Family Medical Center since February 2021. In this role, they lead the IT & Security team, focusing on delivering quality services and creating technical roadmaps.

Prior to that, Mikkel worked as the Snr Director / Head of Information Technology at Open Door Family Medical Center from September 2019 to February 2021. Mikkel collaborated closely with the leadership to define the IT strategy and improve processes within the IT team, ensuring the delivery of quality services to patients.

Before joining Open Door Family Medical Center, Mikkel founded Viking Heart Within in October 2018. It started as a concept during their heart failure recovery and expanded to focus on meal plans, healthy eating, and cooking.

Mikkel also has a significant tenure at KPMG, where they held various roles. Mikkel worked as the Head of IT Operations, Connected Enterprise from February 2019 to September 2019, managing a global team responsible for providing operational support. Before that, they served as the Global Director Infrastructure Operations from July 2015 to January 2019, overseeing the delivery of infrastructure services and leading projects related to digital transformation and cloud migration.

Additionally, Mikkel worked as the Director Global Knowledge Management Platform from July 2011 to June 2015, managing the firm's Knowledge Management platforms and driving technology deployments. Mikkel also held the position of Director, IT Business Operations from November 2010 to June 2011, where they managed IT projects, strategic planning, and vendor partnerships.

Prior to their roles at KPMG, Mikkel worked as an Associate Director, IT Solutions, and Customer Support & IT Solutions Manager at KPMG Ireland. Mikkel joined the company as a Technical Support Analyst in 1999 and gradually took on more responsibilities.

Mikkel's career began as an Interior Design Consultant at Inventarland ApS in December 1994, where they worked until July 1997. Mikkel also had a brief position as a Technical Support Analyst at IBM from September 1997 to December 1998.

Overall, Mikkel Finsen has extensive experience in IT leadership, project management, and strategic planning, with a focus on delivering quality services and driving digital transformation.

Mikkel Finsen's education history begins with their high school education at Østre Skole from 1977 to 1989, where they obtained their high school certification. Mikkel then attended Colton High School in 1989-1990, where they also earned a high school certification. Following that, they pursued their studies at Svendborg Gymnasium from 1990 to 1993, specializing in languages, particularly English, German, French, and Latin.

Mikkel continued their education at Svendborg Erhvervs Skole from 1993 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor of Business degree in the field of Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services. In the following year, they attended Slagelse Handsels Skole (Selandia) in 1995-1996, where they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in the same field of study.

To further enhance their education and expertise, Mikkel pursued an MBA at University College Dublin's Smurfit Business School from 2003 to 2005. In addition to their MBA, they also obtained various certifications, such as the Interwoven Certified Systems Engineer from Interwoven / Autonomy in July 2009, the ITIL Intermediate certification in May 2009, and the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certifications from Microsoft in September 2004 and March 2004, respectively.

In 2013, Mikkel enrolled in a Leadership Program at Clear Direction Inc, where they focused on Organizational Leadership. Following that, they pursued a Human Resources Certification at Cornell University in 2016, specializing in Human Resources Essentials. Mikkel also acquired additional certifications throughout their career, including HR Management from Cornell University in August 2016, the XL Leadership Programme in July 2013, and the Prince2 Practitioner certification from Prince2 in February 2010.
