Chris Maclean has a diverse work experience. In 2001, they were an Ice Cream Man for Tony Fresko's. From 2003-2004, they worked as a Laboratory Technician and Administrator for Spectro Oil Analysis in Hants. In 2004, they were a 2nd Line Support team for EDS in Hants and a Strategic Account Manager for British Gas Business. In 2005, they were an Executive Assistant to the Managing Director at The Sunset Group in Sydney. From 2007-2012, they were a Carbon Management & Sustainability Consultant, Energy, Risk, Strategy & Carbon Consultant, and Lead Relationship Manager for EnergyQuote JHA. Finally, from 2012-2013, they were the Owner of Sentinel Energy Ltd, where they provided energy procurement and sustainability consultancy services. In 2013, they were the CEO and Co-Founder of Open Energy Market, the first independent online trading platform for businesses to engage directly with UK Energy Suppliers.

Chris Maclean attended Wellington College from 1995 to 2000, where they achieved A Levels in English, Geography and Biology. Chris then attended Newcastle University from 2000 to 2003, where they obtained a BSc in Animal Science.
